Teach with DSPIRA
Choose an activity, review its materials, and prepare it for your class.
Choose your starting point
| Your class has | Start here | Prepare first |
|---|---|---|
| Internet access, no telescope | How Fast Are We Moving? | Choose a worksheet level and read the teacher notes. |
| Computers with GNU Radio | Signals and sound lab | Install the software and try the first flowgraph. |
| Time and workspace for construction | Build a telescope | Review parts, costs, tools, and software compatibility. |
| A working horn telescope | Observe the radio sky | Check setup, calibration, and data storage. |
These routes use the same lessons students read. Teacher notes and worksheets stay beside the relevant activity.
Download and adapt materials
Find all printable and editable teaching materials in one place. Download Word files for worksheets and guides, or PowerPoint files for presentations. Lesson pages link directly to the printable PDFs.
Browse notebook examples for Python code and saved plots. Download a notebook from its preview page to adapt it for your class.
Prepare for class
Open Equipment and preparation near the top of each lesson for activity-specific requirements. These notes summarize the written activities. They identify software-only exercises, receiver requirements, and optional alternatives.
- Open every worksheet, video, and download you plan to use.
- Choose the tasks that fit your students’ preparation.
- Check equipment access and any installation permissions.
- Work through the selected tasks and allow time for questions and setup.
Classroom timings have not been confirmed across this collection. Plan from your selected tasks instead of assuming a whole module fits one class. Allow setup time separately from student activity time. Hardware testing and classroom use have not been verified by reviewing the written instructions. For telescope sessions, review software compatibility before scheduling observations.
Request a starter kit if equipment access is a barrier.
